Rumi Sounds is a Berlin-based record label specializing in music on the move. Named after the poet and sufi mystic Rumi, who left an imprint on the world from the Balkans to Bengal, Rumi Sounds is a vinyl label obsessed with the journey of music.
Rumi Sounds was founded as an independent label under the record store Lefter Records in 2021 in Berlin, Kreuzberg which is specialised in world music, hosting one of the largest collection of Turkish music on vinyl ever, including rarities.
The color palette with muted earth tones and the sandy paper texture represent Rumi Sounds’ aspiration to keep a musical archive by finding and unearthing hidden gems from Turkey and all over the world. These colors used mainly on the frame and the obi (belt) of each album show its distinctive feature and its unique place in Rumi Sounds’ archive. As the vinyl gently rotates on the record player, the label design brings Rumi Sounds’ slogan, music on the move, to life.
